Posted by Botanica West

There are many of my mountain community patients that are wondering if I moved off the mountain.

No, I haven’t! Just the business location has changed.

The toll from the past fires created a financial hit on my Running Springs location and there were some personal issues to be resolved. Things have settled and now you know the story. Read more »

Immune support

Dietary Recommendations for Auto Immune Deficiency Related Diseases
By Dr. Hitendra Shah and Helene Gentili C.R..M.T.,

DIET-Many seriously ill patients fair very well on a live food diet, A mucus less diet, anti-Candida diet, blood type diet even vegetable juice fasting. But which one is right for you? Your diet has to fit your circumstance. Ask your health care provider which would be best for you? Remember no matter what diet your on you need to make a complete lifestyle change. From now on you have to educate yourself on intolerable foods that destroy your immune system. NO MORE REFINED SUGAR, WHITE FLOUR, SODAS, CHIPS, CANDY, HYDROGINATED FATS, MARGERINE, EXCESS ALCOHOL, JUNK FOOD, MOST FAST FOODS, MOST DAIRY PRODUCTS, PROCCESSED MEATS, PICKLED FOODS AND HIGH SUGAR CONDIMENTS. AND OTHERS I’M SURE I MISSED.   DETOX- No matter which diet you choose every diet should start with a bowel and liver cleanse. There are many bowel formulas to choose from and some are very purging, while others are for general cleansing. We recommend and carry very specific products for your needs and can custom blend a specialized formulation for you as well.

REJUVINATION-Along with cleansing it’s important to take supplements to enhance your system. Cleansing can deplete your system of vital minerals and even good bacteria. We recommend taking dietary enzymes, cultured foods and probiotics and replace minerals with calcium magnesium powder or coral calcium, I like Willard Water my self. Because it’s more cost effective. Colloidal minerals, Sea Silver are good and trace mineral supplements. Notice that most products we recommend are liquids or powders. Most of our patients with serious illnesses have poor digestion and sluggish bowels. So the supplements you take should be easy to digest. We have some recipes for mineral rich foods that are palatable and easy to digest. We carry many of these products in our clinic.

If your iron is low or if you have a low blood count you can raise it by eating and juicing green leafy vegetables and taking unsulfered black strap molasses. Some good iron supplements are Hemoferrum a highland homeopathic formula and builds iron quickly. Only use this product under a doctor’s recommendation because it can be very constipating. All iron supplements should be taken with plenty of vitamin C and a calcium and magnesium for better assimilation. Ferrous food by standard process is another excellent formula. Wheat and barley grass juicing is an excellent way to build blood and is cleansing at the same time. Try our recipe for blood building soup, a hundred year old recipe. I made it for many patients before and after surgery and during convalescence with good results.
Vitamin supplements can be used to boost your immune system, my personal favorite is Floradix fruit and herbal tonic. It comes with or without iron and is safe for the elderly and children. It is in a liquid and assimilates well. We carry multivitamin supplements in a pill form for those with decent digestion. And Dr. Shaw provides vitamin drip I.V. treatment for serious immune deficiency problems. I have personally had one and I definitely felt a significant difference in energy level and felt much calmer. I.V. treatment provides a boost start for patients and gives them an immediate sense of well being and makes it easier to make an effort to be more pro active in their treatment… Read more »

Time to Heal

Posted by Botanica West

Helene Gentili and Robert Simmons have closed the Calimesa office in order to simplify there lives in order to concentrate on writing and reinventing their practices.

Helene has resettled in the San Francisco bay area on a healing sabbatical. Though she will miss you all very much it is important that she revives her spirit since the personal challenges of this year. She is in the bosom of her dear friends and kindred spirits and is gardening, painting, performing, writing and taking up photography.

She will be running an online storefront by the end of this year. In the mean time botanica west will be used as an information sight.

Robert Simmons L.ac is still practicing in the inland empire and can be reached on the information shown on the contact page found at www.botanicawest.com.

Helene is rebuilding This new website at www.ahealingrose.com where you can find and purchase her products and contact her as well. It will be complete before the years end.

So many are rebuilding there lives and reinventing themselves due to the chang of the economy and we’ve been forced to enter that realm as well.

We are positive that we can continue our work that we love so much and will be back on track but in a different frame of mind.

Blessings Botanica West

Vegetarianism … Get into it!

Posted by Botanica West

Many of my carnivorous clients who are working on converting to being children of the grain have a lot of questions of what to eat. I mean being a meat eater is easy. You slap some large chunk of brisket of anything dead and red on a grill or a frying pan and cook a spud and warm up a can of corn and there you have it a nice putrefying dinner for your body to work on for days.

When I was young my grandmother would shop 2-3 times a week and frozen food was rare as I can’t remember ever seeing her open a bag of frozen anything. And there was always a garden of tomatoes, chili’s, herbs medicinal and culinary and asst fruit trees. My mother and father who are in there seventies still have a garden and fruit trees on there property.

We ate food mostly what was in season. Meat was not the main focus of a meal but was incorporated into one. Beans and rice were a staple and homemade tortillas. There were no supermarkets in east Los Angeles at the time but an asst of cultural mini markets, meat and vegetable fruit stands, even local produce sold from the back of a truck.I called that porch shopping. Everything we ate was grown locally.

Vegetarians don’t just eat Vegetables that wouldn’t be balanced. There are also legumes (beans), nuts, seeds, grains and tuber (root vegetables) , gourds, greens, squashes along with fruits as well. What can I eat your saying? The choices are vast! How can I make such a huge list….you are not deprived. I do write articles on foods high in calcium and blood building foods. But I’m not the Martha Stewart of Veganism.

People ask what can I eat then want a list of the cans and can’ts. It’s a huge list only limited to what we refuse to eat. With the help of the internet there is such an array of recipes and lessons in cooking on you tube of all places and restaurants that cater to vegetarians and its now the in thing to be as well so don’t feel isolated because your not.

Eating is an adventure! Explore new foods! Try new dishes! Introduce yourself to a new vegetable every week. Try to eat food in the original package God made it in. And eat whats in season . That’s my rule of thumb. Look at healthy food as a friend not an enemy and ask before you eat whats in front of you…are you going to keep me well and strong or are you going to make me ill.  Always cook with love and good intentions. Set your table and eat at it and always try to eat as a family or with friends.

F.Y.I.There are a number of types of vegetarianism, which exclude or include various foods. Vegetarian loopholes I call them.

Ovo vegetarianism includes eggs but not dairy products.
Lacto vegetarianism includes dairy products but not eggs. Not good for people with blue iris’s it’s mucus causing.
Ovo-lacto vegetarianism (or lacto-ovo vegetarianism) includes animal/dairy products such as eggs, milk, and honey.
Veganism excludes all animal flesh and animal products, including milk, honey, and eggs, and may also exclude any products tested on animals, or any clothing from animals.[21]
Raw veganism includes only fresh and uncooked fruit, nuts, seeds, and vegetables. Vegetables can only be cooked up to a certain temperature.[22]
Fruitarianism permits only fruit, nuts, seeds, and other plant matter that can be gathered without harming the plant.[23]
Buddhist vegetarianism (also known as su vegetarianism) excludes all animal products as well as vegetables in the allium family (which have the characteristic aroma of onion and garlic): onion, garlic, scallions, leeks, or shallots.
Jain vegetarianism includes dairy but excludes eggs and honey, as well as root vegetables.
Macrobiotic diets consist mostly of whole grains and beans. A higher protein vegetarian diet.
Pescetarianism, which includes fish and sometimes other seafood; a vegetarian who cant give up the sushi.
pollotarianism, which includes poultry; A vegetarian who can’t give up the Kentucky fried chicken.
“pollo-pescatarian”, which includes poultry and fish, or “white meat” only; (whats the point of calling yourself a vegetarian with meat now really)
macrobiotic diets consisting mostly of whole grains and beans, but may sometimes include fish.
